Students learn the new Cool Tool of the Month: Ignoring Distractions.Students learn the new Cool Tool of the Month: Ignoring Distractions. This tool teaches students how to stay on task and complete their work even if a distraction is happening near them.

Cool Tools are a part of a character-building program designed to teach children basic skills for conflict resolution, social tolerance, and personal accountability. Throughout the district, we emphasize PBIS values to be respectful, responsible, safe, and kind. The immediate goal of Cool Tools is to teach students to resolve conflicts with one another independently. Children are taught that it is okay for them to exit from a situation that is unsafe or uncomfortable, seek adult support, and that they can work together to repair a conflict. The long-term goal of the program is to create and maintain a common language and a community that encourages learning.
