Welcome to Terrific Third Grade!!

PLEASE CHECK AND SIGN YOUR STUDENT'S PLANNER EVERY NIGHT!!!   They will have their homework for the night noted and also their behavior points from Class Dojo.  If you have not yet signed up for Class Dojo and would like to, send me a note in the planner and I will be sure to give you your login. :)

So....what's happening in third grade?

We are learning the genre of biography this month!  We are focusing on African-Americans since February is Black History month, so ask your student who they learned about this week!  Our reading strategy is asking and answering questions.  The students need to practice going back into the text to find the evidence to a question.  You can practice this at home when you are reading with your student!

Writing News:

We will be writing a short biography on an African-American.  We will be incorporating technology by using Blabberize to present our reports to the class.  If you haven't seen Blabberize, you can view a sample at:   It should be lots of fun!

PLEASE practice basic math facts with your students at home.  All students should be working on all their multiplication facts at this time.

We have been working with fractions over the past few weeks.  After fractions, we will be moving to time.  Time is very tricky for third graders, so please have your student work with time at home.  They should be able to tell time on a digital and analog clock.  They also need to know how much time has passed or how long they have before doing something.  For example, if it is 6 and their bedtime is 8:30, ask them how long before bed.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.
