Hello:
Welcome to Shiloh Park School and welcome to Kindergarten. My name is Susie LaBelle and I am delighted to be your child’s first teacher. We are going to have a wonderful year and I am excited to get to know each and every child. This is my 18th year of teaching, most of those years were spent teaching early childhood music and movement, but I also taught Kindergarten for 3 years.
I grew up in California and Arkansas and after I got married moved to Zion where my husband grew up. I graduated from John Brown University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. My husband and I live in Waukegan and we have 4 beautiful daughters. The most exciting news of the day is that my oldest daughter is getting married this Friday, September 2nd, to her high school sweetheart! I wanted you to know that I will be gone tomorrow, Thursday, September 1st, and Friday the 2nd, but will return Tuesday morning excited and ready for a great year! I have another daughter who is a senior at Warren and two more who are in 7th and 5th grade. Our whole family is very involved with Christian Youth Theater and if you’ve seen any of their shows, you’ve probably seen one or more of them on stage.
Some of the things that I like to do when I’m not in the classroom are reading, gardening, scrapbooking, helping people plan parties and events, trying new recipes, and spending time with my family.
I am very excited to have your child and am sure we will have a fun filled year with many reading, math and writing experiences. You will be amazed at the transformation you see this year in their school work. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me here at school between 8:15 and 3:15 or write me a note, or you can also email me at slabelle@zion6.org. Please look over your child’s papers daily and clean out those Take Home Folders. There is a side for “work to be left at home” and a side for “papers that need to be returned”. I will give you our parent handbook on September 6th at Open House.
I am looking forward to a great year!
Mrs. LaBelle
